Anthony Wofford '09
My name is Anthony Wofford, and I am a Chicago Christian alum from the class of 2009.  During my time at Chicago Christian, I was fortunate to build friendships that will last for a lifetime.  Some of my favorite memories from Chicago Christian were made with people who I consider my friends still to this day.  From attending CCHS I was given the opportunity to interact with people from different walks of life and gain a new perspective of life.  One person that really inspired me during my time there was P.E teacher and basketball coach Mr. Broene, who helped me not only be a better player but also a better person by teaching me about work ethic.

After graduating from CCHS, I attended Lincoln College, where I studied sports management and graduated with my Associate's Degree in 2011.  I went on to attend Eastern Illinois University until 2013 and became very active in youth sports.  I became a Jr. NBA Coach for the Chicago Bulls, coaching basketball camps, clinics, and travel teams.  In 2016 I became the Director of Athletics at Cornerstone Christian School in South Chicago Heights.

My experience with both the Chicago Bulls as well as Cornerstone has been great!  I’ve gotten the chance to meet so many great players and coaches from around the NBA that have given me advice that I have shared with a lot of the youth that I coach.  What I love about being involved with youth in the school as well as on the Jr. NBA level is seeing the potential in a child and helping them understand how to tap into that potential.  Most of the time I find myself teaching kids about life more so than the sport they have chosen to play.  I have learned from my time working with kids that everyone wants to be the best version of themselves; they just need someone to show them how to do it.  I take a lot of the lessons that I learned at Chicago Christian and apply them to my teaching and coaching.

Chicago Christian helped prepare me for steps that I have taken in my life. It provided the necessary academic tools that would guarantee me being ready for college. It also gave me the opportunity to make friends with people from different backgrounds who still hold a positive influence in my life today. Chicago Christian was a place where I discovered passion and the importance of education.  I believe that if I did not attend Chicago Christian High School I would not be the man that I am today.  I will always be grateful that I had the chance to attend CCHS.
