Trey Taylor coming to Chicago Christian!

On February 6th, Christian and country music singer Trey Taylor will perform a concert at the high school.  Mr. Taylor will perform for our students and staff only -- 4th through 7th grade, and high school students. (Eighth grade students will be on the ski field trip.)  Mr. Taylor wants to take pictures and videos at the concert.  These photos and video may be used in a documentary to be released at a later date.  Mr. Taylor is passionate about Christian education, and we look very forward to having him perform for us.

A little more about Mr. Taylor:

Trey Taylor is the youngest African American man in Country Music history. The Denver Post wrote “It's impossible to miss his enthusiasm. With a fondness for cowboy boots, gaudy colors and dazzling jewelry, Trey Taylor could stand toe to toe with any of the Pop, Country or even Rap contemporaries of his generation and give each of them a good run for their money, a fact that hasn't been lost on audiences across the world. They've embraced his singular style wholeheartedly, a warm reception that's helped guide this charming, charismatic force of nature on his creative path. His young female fans roar when he hits the stage, his peers respect his style and he transcends audiences capturing them in the palm of his hands without even being aware of doing it”.

Born in Colorado to a single mother, Trey had an instant attraction to music and sang word by word to Disney sing-a-long songs by the age of three. Trey longed for his musical identity and found it when he saw Dolly Parton sing on television being drawn to the genre she sang called “Country” which he had not been familiar with. On his sixteenth birthday, Trey immediately applied for a job as a Walmart cashier. He saved all of his checks to subsidize his first recording session and in 2015, Trey recorded his first single titled “Back on My Mind Again”.  He released the song to internet distribution formats and the single gained the attention of multiple producers across the world notably (and ironically) Dolly Parton’s Producer Kent Wells who quickly signed Trey to Kent Wells Productions in Nashville.  Kent Wells signed Trey to his official record label, Go Time Records (  Trey has been blessed to meet and form friendships with some of the largest names in show business such as Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap, Wynonna Judd, Vince Gill, Tanya Tucker, The Oak Ridge Boys and many more including his hero and idol, the best selling female country artist of all time, the legendary Dolly Parton. He continues to receive accolades for his work promoting children’s literacy, animal welfare and other worthy causes. He sells out venues around the nation and released a new album in 2018.

Trey makes it a point to maintain humility and focus. “I have never taken a sip of alcohol or inhaled a cigarette or drug in my entire life! I’ve never been careless with my money or taken my blessings and achievements for granted. I wake up every single day determined and focused on what I can do for my career, my life and I ask myself how I can further contribute to mankind and do my part to unite people of all backgrounds and promote dream following. I started playing the guitar and singing to get cute girls to pay attention to me and get out of doing homework and it amazes me just how large the big picture of it all represents and as my career continues to grow into areas and fields I never saw possible. God has given me a gift and it humbles me to think of just how important it is to hold fast to the right and to be true to myself, my art and my fans.”  Trey currently resides in Nashville and despite his illustrious success, Trey Taylor is only TWENTY YEARS OLD!
