At Chicago Christian, we are preparing our graduates to be followers of Christ, seekers of knowledge, pursuers of justice and caretakers of creation.  Our hope is that students will continue to engage the world and culture and serve society wholeheartedly in order to glorify God by honoring him in all aspects of their lives.

Do you know somebody who is doing this?  Please let us know by nominating him or her to be a Featured Alumni.  We would love to highlight and celebrate the good works that our alumni are doing in all areas of career and service, whether paid or volunteer, recently graduated or well-seasoned.

I'm Michelle Perry and I graduated from CCHS in 2004. During my time at CCHS, I developed many meaningful friendships and relationships that I have been grateful enough to continue to have into adulthood. One favorite memory while attending CCHS was an overnight fast with World Vision. As a teenager, to complete a 24hr fast seemed insane. I remember the event being highly organized with games and activities, which made the experience extremely fun! It might sound corny, but I have fond memories of attending chapel weekly and loving it. I loved being a part of an experience with the entire student and faculty body that challenged us to look to Jesus above all else. I loved my chemistry and physics classes which helped to set the stage for my passion for medicine. I also loved my French classes-Madame VanderWoude was always sooo joyful and full of life!!

I am so glad that I received such a great education from teachers who prepared me for life beyond high school.  Some of the teachers who made an impact on me were Mr. Carpenter, Mr. Kloosterman, Mr. John Meyer, and Mr. Gary Meyer.  They, along with several others throughout my high school years, not only taught enriching subjects but also life lessons that I have carried on into my teaching of students today.

My name is Linus Chan, and I graduated from Chicago Christian High School in 2013. It was a really formative period of my life, and I’m glad to have made some lifelong friendships and grew a little more into myself during that time. My fondest memories center around the many plays and musicals I got to act in under the guidance of Mrs. Lenters, Mrs. Riley, and Mr. Kowallis. I’m certain that my desire to work on creative projects with other like-minded folks was nurtured because of those productions, and I still carry that spirit with me today. I also quite enjoyed AP U.S. History with Mr. Altena, who ingrained in me an appreciation for history (and some very good tunes). Finally, I remember having a great time in Mrs. Medema’s classes and being encouraged to try many different kinds of art.

I grew up in the southwest side of Chicago and attended both Southwest Chicago Christian School in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and later, Chicago Christian High School in Palos Heights, Illinois.  It may seem strange that I mention these details but I have lived outside of the United States of America for more than a decade as a teacher, first of English and then of all subjects, mainly at the kindergarten level. Throughout this massive journey, I have held two truths to be true: God and the Holy Trinity are watching over me, and that Grandma Doot, my beloved personal savior on Earth, has helped me become who I am today.

At this point in life, approaching 40 years since graduation, high school feels like it was “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away”! A few memories that stand out for me from that time include working on the yearbook Senior year with Mrs. Wilson and too many classmates to count, being the only girl in Mr. Kroon's Chemistry 2 class, singing in the choir, and any English class with Mr. Gary Meyer. The one weekend of Senior year that was both memorable and decisive for my future was the 1981 IHSA Girls’ basketball state championship.

“Leadership is not a rank. It is a responsibility. Leadership is not about being in charge, it is about taking care of those in your charge. When we take care of our people, our people will take care of us.” – Simon Sinek. This quote stuck out to me when I was sitting in Mr. Payne’s Leadership class back as a sophomore at CCHS. Having just started a “side hustle” lawn mowing and painting company that same year, I vowed to incorporate this view of leadership into my newly founded business life and my personal life.
