Welcome to Southwest Chicago Christian School - Tinley Park Campus

"A Christ-centered learning community intent on restoring God's world."

Huizenga, Terry

Your child is not a number.

At SCCS - Tinley Park, this Pre-K through 8th grade campus nurtures students in a safe and caring environment.  Every student is known, valued, and cared for.  We educate with a focus on academic achievement and discipleship.

It is with a challenging curriculum and caring teachers that students learn more about God's world and the call He has for them.  It is through the lens of God's Word that students study the sciences, math, Spanish, the visual and performing arts, technology and more.  They are growing in their knowledge of their Creator and His specific design for each student's life.

I hope you will consider attending an Open House or contact us to set up a private tour -- calling our office at 708.429.7171 or Wilma in the admissions office at 708.388.7656.

Our curriculum is biblically based on the teachings of the infallible Word of God as interpreted in the Standards of the Reformed faith and seeks to explore every avenue of learning so students may be able to discharge His responsibilities faithfully.

The Preschool and Kindergarten programs have been established as a service to the families and children of the community. Children are welcomed as individuals created in the image of God. Focus is on the whole child: their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, creative and spiritual growth. Preschool and Kindergarten curriculum includes Bible, literacy development, math, science, social studies, physical education, music, art, Spanish and computer (Kindergarten only).

The elementary school and middle school offers a setting in which the students can explore different interests through a variety of exposures and experiences with a focus on preparing students for future studies. The elementary school curriculum includes Bible, art, language arts, reading, writing, spelling, grammar, computer, instrumental instruction band (5th grade), math, music, physical education, science, social studies, Spanish, and Project Lead the Way STEM units in science. The middle school curriculum includes Bible, art, band, choir, computer applications, Spanish, language arts, math, social studies, physical education, and PLTW STEM units in science.

The Southwest Chicago Christian School Association can be summarized by the school logo that has the basic shape of three triangles that overlap which represent the Christian home, the Christian church, and the Christian school, and show that Christ is at the heart of each institution. Furthermore, the shape formed by the overlapping triangles typifies the unity and interdependent of the home, church, and school in the education of our students.

In partnership with home and church, we as a school strive to develop the faith of our students by helping them understand who they are in Christ and where they fit in God’s story. We provide programs and curriculum that develops the mind of each child to develop a heart for God and to serve others effectively. Students participate in leading chapel, classroom devotions and prayer, multiple service learning projects, and learning how to be Christ-like servants through the modeling and teaching from our staff.

Much of education is about preparation for future studies. We offer a variety of exposures and experiences that complement our curricular program through our co-curricular programs for students to learn more about their God-given gifts and talents.

Elementary co-curricular programs include:

  • Musical for grades 1-5
  • Preschool Programs
  • Fine Arts Festivals
  • Curriculum Nights

Middle School co-curricular programs include:

  • Interscholastic Sports of basketball, cross country, soccer, track, and volleyball
  • Fine Art Showcase Events
  • Yearbook
  • Plays/Musicals
  • After School Clubs such as photography, lego-robotics, cooking, chess, drama and writing.

I was looking for a Christian school for my kids when they were young and I took a chance on Southwest Chicago Christian when I knew nothing about it. What I got was a group of teachers and staff that treat us like part of their extended family. Their care and compassion for my children goes beyond academics and is applied to their character as well. I couldn't have asked for a better community!             - Jenny Zabrocki, parent
